Women's Golf Moves Up To Sixth Place At CAA Championship

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Richmond women's golf team shot a 319 Saturday moving into sixth place after the second round of the CAA Women's Golf Championship, played Saturday at the Golden Horseshoe Green Course.

Richmond entered the day in seventh place, but passed Towson. The Spiders are at 67-over-par 643 entering the third and final round of 2008 CAA Championship on Sunday. The Spiders are 15 shots behind fifth-place Xavier.

Spider sophomore Lauren Folgosa moved up to a tie for 20th place after shooting a 5-over 77 Saturday. Folgosa is at 12-over-par 156 for the tournament after carding a 79 in Friday's first round.

"I had a really strong front nine, but then I scrambled a lot on the back," Folgosa said. "I was really proud of us today. We have one round left tomorrow, we're looking forward to playing better."

Sophomore Jillian Fraccola carded her second-straight 79 and is tied for 24th at 14-over 148. Sophomore Anne Sprick is in 32nd after firing a 6-over 78 Saturday which has her at 18-over 162.

Freshman Christina Gray is tied for 37th at 167 (82-85) and senior Alex Latimer is in 44th at 177 (89-88).
