Basketball Teams Help Raise Money For Salvation Army

Dec. 15, 2007

RICHMOND, Va. - The Richmond men and women's basketball teams did their part to spread holiday cheer, ringing bells for the Salvation Army outside of Joe's Market on Libbie Avenue on Saturday.

Members of the men and women's basketball squads rotated throughout the day, raising money for the Salvation Army from noon until 6 p.m. on Saturday. This was the second-straight year that the basketball players participated in the Salvation Army bell ringing.

The Spiders had already donated basketballs and t-shirts to the Salvation Army's Holiday Cheer For Gear program earlier this month.

Also, in a combination effort with the men and women's basketball teams and the football team, basketballs and footballs were donated to three branches of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Richmond.
