The Richmond baseball team couldn't overcome an early 5-0 deficit and fell to visiting St. Bonaventure, 14-6, at Pitt Field Friday afternoon. Hank Coogan went three-for-four, while Mike Mergenthaler and Ryan Grant each had two hits for the Spiders, who bring the regular season to a close Saturday versus the Bonnies at noon.

Shields Taken In 4th Round By Oakland; Hightower By Arizona In 5th

Richmond senior WR Arman Shields was the 125th overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft on Sunday, taken by Oakland in the fourth round, while senior RB Tim Hightower was selected in the fifth round by Arizona as the 149th overall pick. The Spiders were one of just 61 D-I schools, one of four FCS schools and the only CAA Football school with multiple selections.
